Collectors Group Seeks Help in Lighthouse Preservation Fund Raiser
Harbour Lights retailers and collectors have teamed up in an effort to raise funds for U. S. lighthouse preservation. Collector Forums, a meeting place for Harbour Lights collectors and lighthouse enthusiasts, along with The Cape Cod Store.com and Bronze Lady of Orlando, Florida kicked off the fund raiser on April 21st.
“Each year, the Collector Forums runs a fund raiser of some sort among its members to raise funds for a lighthouse preservation group in the U.S.,” says Roland Babineau, owner of The Cape Cod Store.com and Collector Forums member. “This year, we are taking our fund raising effort one step farther and bringing it to the general public.
“This year’s Collector Forums fund raiser will not only help the efforts of a number of non-profit lighthouse preservation groups throughout the U.S., but donors to this year’s Opportunity Drawing will be able to win some very rare Harbour Lights lighthouse collectible replicas, as well as a very rare Anchor Bay model ship collectible. In addition, one hundred percent of the money raised through this fund raiser will be donated to lighthouse preservation.”
Anchor Bay Motor Yacht Kim
The rare Anchor Bay piece is a 1997 Regular Edition Motor Yacht Kim, which is one of only 13 of its kind known to exist. Other prizes include rare whiteware, (unpainted), Harbour Lights lighthouse replicas which were used as gifts for past Harbour Lights collectors’ excursions called “reunions.” Also included in the drawing is a rare artist proof of Harbour Lights’ popular Cedar Point, OH Lighthouse replica, complete with roller coaster.
In all, 13 Harbour Lights and Anchor Bay prizes are available to be won. Each piece is estimated to be worth between $75.00 and $600.00 (The Kim).
“All of the retired replica prizes have been donated by Collector Forums members from their personal collections,” adds Collector Forums member Rich Felter. “In addition, The Bronze Lady and The Cape Cod Store.com have donated some brand new Harbour Lights releases which haven’t even been officially announced by the company as of yet. Each donor is also paying the shipping to the winner, as well, which isn’t always the case in a drawing of this type.”
Sabine Pass, LA to be released in August
The lighthouses which are in line to be aided by this fund raising effort are Jones Point, VA, New Canal, LA, Fort Gratiot, MI, Execution Rocks, NY, Toledo Harbor, OH, and Ashtabula OH.
Those who wish to donate and be eligible to win one of these outstanding prizes can visit the Opportunity Drawing website at www.thecapecodstore.com/opportunity_drawing/header
To be eligible for prizes, donations must be received by August 15, 2009.
Just a little addition from me. The entries are by postal mail only, to save on credit card and PayPal fees. This way, ALL the money can go to these needful lighthouses. A quick peek at some of the rules on entering.
- Opportunity Drawing begins on April 20, 2009.
- All entries must be received by close of business on August 15, 2009.
- All donors contributing $5.00 or more will be entered into the Opportunity Drawing. Donors receive 1 (one) Drawing entry for a $5.00 donation or 3 (three) Drawing entries for a $10.00 donation. Ten dollar donation entries will be multiplied accordingly, i.e., a $20.00 donation entitles the donor to 6 (six) Drawing entries, a $30.00 donation entitles the donor to 9 (nine) entries, etc. No maximum will be imposed on the number of entries a donor is entitled to providing the appropriate dollar donation is made.
- Donations amounts cannot be combined with any previous or future donor amount in order to maximize the amount of entries awarded, (Two different $5.00 donations cannot be combined to make a $10.00 donation. Entries will be awarded on each $5.00 donation individually).
- One prize per winning person and/or address only will be awarded.
- In order to enter drawing, donor must submit this entry form with name, address, phone number and e-mail address, if applicable. All information gathered by the Drawing committee is confidential and will be used only for the purposes of notifying winners and shipping prizes, unless otherwise authorized by donor on entry form (opportunities to opt in to The Cape Cod Store.com’s or Bronze Lady of Orlando’s e-mailing lists will be provided, but not required, on the entry form).
- 100% of all money collected will be donated to lighthouse preservation.
- Checks and/or money orders made out to Sand and Sea Enterprises will be accepted for drawing only. In order to maximize lighthouse donation funds and escape the payment of potentially substantial fees, no credit cards or PayPal will be accepted. (Sorry!) Cash payments are discouraged as mail sometimes gets lost. The U.S. Post Office frowns heavily on enclosing cash in the mail.
Donations and entry forms are to be mailed to
