Lighthouses Good Enough To Eat

Yum, just when we thought Christmas goodies were done, here comes a story and a slideshow from The BayNet about tasty lighthouses. The Calvert Marine Museum in Southern Maryland, owner of Cove Point Lighthouse and home to Drum Point Lighthouse, put on a special program for kids on December 23.
During three separate sessions, kids of various ages created Gingerbread Lighthouses. There were about twelve youngsters in each class. For a small fee, each child was given the materials to make a Gingerbread House, which included an upside down ice cream cone used as the lighthouse, frosting, and different types of candy. To create the lighthouses’ beacons, yellow or orange gumdrops were used. This was the first year that the museum has held its class to make Gingerbread Lighthouses. But hopefully not the last.
Be sure to check out the story for the slideshow of kids making lighthouses. And to maybe get some idea for yourselves for next year. I know that’s what I did.
