Lighthouse Stolen?

How can someone steal a lighthouse? Particularly Cape May Lighthouse, NJ? After all, it’s 157 feet tall, and made of heavy brick. And its lantern (red) can’t be too easy to hide. And just where would you pawn it?
Police Typo Causes Panic
Well, it wasn’t that bad, but the press release issued by the Lower Township Police Department read “Burglary and Theft of Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park.” We know a lighthouse that had been lost was recently found, but this is altogether different!
Fortunately, the lighthouse is still there. The headline should have read “Burglary and Theft at Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park.” Apparently somone broke in and stole $400 from the donation box. While that’s certainly not good news, it’s a whole lot better than another lighthouse going missing. Phew. Glad she’s still there.
