If you’re interested in building your very own lighthouse, hand drawn plans, maps and design features for extensions to eleven historic Australian lighthouses will be up for auction in Melbourne, Australia. Leski Auctions has acquired these historic documents, valued at $7,500 AUD, and will put them up for auction on June 15. Some of the historic lighthouses include Eddystone (pictured at right) and Maatsuyker in Tasmania.
All the lighthouses were designed by Colonial Architect James Johnston Barnet, who also designed many public buildings in New South Wales and is credited with “leaving Sydney a legacy of iconic and much-loved Victorian buildings.” The extensions listed above include plans for railings, staircases, banisters and some actual lighthouse and turrets.
This would be a rare find for anyone interested in lighthouse memorabilia.
