With Guest Speaker, Former Canadian Coast Guard Lightkeeper Chris Mills

Saturday evening, May 17 6:30 p.m.

The featured speaker at the dinner will be Chris Mills, author, former lighthouse keeper, and preservationist from Nova Scotia. Chris served as a keeper for the Canadian Coast Guard on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. He is the author of the acclaimed book Vanishing Lights and his latest book, Lighthouse Legacies, which tells the story of how lighthouse keepers and their families lived until the 1960s: without electricity, exposed to the fury of the sea, and always at the service of the mariner.

Chris is a founding member of the Nova Scotia Lighthouse Preservation Society and editor of the organization’s newsletter, The Lightkeeper. He has also worked as a broadcast journalist. Chris’s multimedia presentation will be based on his lightkeeping experience, with excerpts from the many interviews he’s conducted.

The evening will also include a presentation on the latest preservation efforts of ALF and its chapters. Seating limited to 180 people. Tickets $45 for adults, $35 for children 12 and under.
