As Lighthouse News is writing this, the current high bid for Lubec Channel Lighthouse is now $41,000, entered by someone calling himself Old Lite. What’s remarkable about this auction is that some of the same bidders from Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse seem to be in the fray. Because of the flurry of last minute bids, the auction end has been delayed to September 25 at 3:00 pm EDT. This could prove to be almost as interesting as the last watch.

Once again, though, the money generated from this sale will go into the general fund of the GSA, when it by rights should go into a fund set up to support the lighthouses that have been transferred to non-profit organizations via the National Lighthouse Preservation Act.
What do you think? Is it time to start a campaign with our senators and representatives to see if we can a law passed to transfer these funds into a separate account? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.

The Coordinator for the event wants to see at least five runners or walkers for each breast cancer patient on the North Coast. That translates to 1000 or so participants.
