For the first time, the public will be offered tours of Thomas Point Shoals lighthouse in Maryland. This is the last remaining screwpile lighthouse in its original location on Chesapeake Bay. Its recent refurbishing by the US Lighthouse Society has led to these tours being offered to the public.
The tours cost $70 per person, and reservations are required. The tour starts at the museum with a documentary and safety information, then is followed by a boat ride to the lightstation, where visitors will disembark and tour the lighthouse.
The full story with requirements for going may be read here, and reservations may be made by visiting www.chesapeakelights.com
